Tips for travellers

Arrange a tour you’ll never forget to see The Cedars in north Lebanon. At their high altitude these ancient trees make for spectacular viewing and are a source of national pride.

You can get around Beirut by taxi, bus or car hire. Private taxis and shared taxis are available but make sure that you have an address to provide to the driver and agree a fare before you start your journey. Buses can be flagged down on the road as there are no bus stops. If you decide to hire a car, bear in mind that Beirut's roads are often congested and traffic can get heavy, especially during rush hour. Several major international car hire companies are available. To hire a car, you'll need to be at least 23 years old, have held a driver's license for a minimum of two years and be able to produce an international driving permit.
